Traffic Control Person (TCP / Flagger) Certification (Surrey BC, Canada)
COURSE OVERVIEW
Construction flagging is a demanding role that requires meticulous attention and care. Completion of the TCP certification program is mandatory before assuming the responsibilities of a flagger. During the course, CSA-approved steel-toed boots with ankle support are compulsory.
REQUIREMENTS
Individuals must be at least 16 years old and possess the physical capability to execute the skills necessary to fulfill the course requirements. Prior training is not necessary.
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion, each student receives a three-year certificate enabling them to work as a Traffic Control Person. The course includes a multiple-choice exam with a minimum passing score of 75% and a practical skills session on the roadway.

COURSE CONTENT
- Duties and obligations of TCPs, employers, and supervisors
- Compliance with regulations and standards from the Ministry of Transportation and the Motor Vehicle Act
- Proper use of traffic control equipment and devices, including personal protective gear
- Procedures for establishing, maintaining, and dismantling work zones
- Safety protocols for working near equipment
- Proficiency in basic and advanced traffic control techniques
